Located opposite the big dune of Erg Chebbi where a green oasis contrast with the orange color of the sand.This is the biggest and most developed village in the region.Merzouga is the village that gives the unofficial name to Erg Chebbi Dunes, as many people find Erg Chebbi somehow more difficult to memorize, Merzouga from the beginning of the first tourist arrivals to the region gave the name to the dunes.Merzouga saw a huge development in the last decade and now provide all basic amenities to its populations.

Located just 4km from Merzouga, it currently serves of residential place for local nomadic peoples who over time have settled along the oasis. The name means “the white well” as tell the story that some nomads once got to this place and found a empty well, with its inner walls white due to the salt water. Nowadays the oasis has great drinkable water and its oasis full of palm trees is something worth a visit.

Known as the “village of the black men” is an interesting place because all its population have dark skin, being themselves, descendants of the peoples from sub-Saharan Africa in Mali or Guinea that stayed in the region after the camel caravan routes between North and Sub-Sahara Africa ended. Every year there is a festivals where people from all the region travel to Khamliya and enjoy with local folklore and unique Gnawa music and dance, somewhat reminiscent of the Gnawa tradition of southwestern Morocco.

In Erfoud you can find many of the best fossils quarries in the World.There are many workshops, shops and even museums you can visit and ask around for private tours to the quarries.Best examples of found fossils in Erfoud include Orthoceras, Trilobites, Crinoids and Ammonites.

For those that prefer having a Panoramic Sight of the putting sun, they will have to raise up to the top of the dunes what supposes approximately 15 minutes more of increase; those who prefer remaining below, will be able to enjoy the putting sun in the local surroundings where we leave the camels, after the sunrise on our ways back to the hotel , we will vist the oases , from where local of the village survive, as the sun is not that hot you can have a close look to local people how they maker theire agricluture in the desert and how they can get water ,that will be an important mourning to learn about irigation , local people work, and how the rolle is devide betwen man and women ,after the oases viste we are going to visit the depot nomade where all local peopple and nomade put their things for showing part of their culture ,experience theire Berber & Arabic costumes and hav a picture , not that their stuf is also for sell as it help them of making their living , for who have an overnight in the desrt they can add some activity to their visit  such jeep safari , duneboarding , quadbike  , Dune buggy  , sand rolling , camel safari

The escape about the Erg can be realized throughout one day or in the half day. The trip is the same, but the number of stops in the different places and the duration of the same ones is different well. In the option of the excursion of a complete day we will stop to eat in an oassis where there is a small people in the way of the desert. They will prepare a warm meal for us, sat in ground as it is they who live. The trip for the dunes will allow us to happen for the small oases of Giving Kaoua and of Hassi Merdani. Stay a virgin oasis in the desert
When we speak to this one we go in direction of the border in Algeria. This border clearly delimited by a mountain range is approximately to 40 km. In this territory the desert is absolute, the life is absolutely wild. The proposal of this excursion consists of seeing virgin desert for two hours of trip in 4X4 up to coming to an oasis only visited by the nomads bereberes. To the oasis we will eat and, stretched on the mantes, we will have a perfect evening to do a siesta in the shade of the palm trees, to read, to draw, to play the checkers bereberes, to walk, etc. Two hours of trip more will bring us A Merzouga, bathed by the desert, with the engraved well images and having listened one more time, the silence of the desert. Along the whole trip we will do all the stops that are wished to do photos, to walk and to observe all that that I attracted attention of us in the trip. To the spring, many animals have his babies which makes especially interesting and tender to realize certain stops for observing the nature in this season.
